Autumn Recap

October 1, 2017

What an amazing fall! After taking late spring and summer off from field work and completing a quick start up contract in Durango, I emerged into autumn a free man. Rested and recharged, I enjoyed the fruits of being fun-employed. I will never take it for granted how blessed I am. Highlights include multiple trips across Telluride’s Via Feretta with new guests and returning friends. There were also some great guided peak climbs, challenging backcountry mountain bike excursions, new backcountry yurt building and one of the most memorable fall 14er expeditions I’ve ever been on- Nothing like mid-winter conditions in late August out in Chicago Basin to really drive home the fact that MOTHER NATURE ALWAYS BATS LAST!

In addition to all the great work adventures, fall is always the best time of year for personal exploits. With the winter season closing in fast, I made the most of my “days off” bikepacking up high, shredding the goods in Durango, crushing hungry trout in the Animas and chasing elusive elk deep into the Uncompadre Wilderness.
